EU Projects
In 1999 the Foundation for the first time grouped a European research consortium and responded to a call by the European Union with the submission of a grant application. The first project was REFLEX, which dealt with the biological effects of electromagnetic fields on human health. Since then the research projects DIADEM, APOPIS, and MEMOSAD - all dealing with the age-related neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer’s disease - have been successfully completed, .
The decision to work on relevant topics with renowned research teams was based on the conviction that a structured international co-operation can increase our knowledge. As the EU pursues the same goal with its Framework Programmes, it was obvious to submit research proposal. This especially successful interdisciplinary research with teams from all over Europe is to be continued. And we look forward to the first call of the 8th Framework Programme for Research Horizon 2020, which is supposed to be published in autumn 2013.
